Denver, Seattle Heading To Super Bowl XLVIII

Something quite unusual happened this year in the AFC and NFC Championship Playoff games: Both favorites actually won and covered, and both home teams actually won. While the Denver Broncos took an early 13-3 lead into halftime and never had to look back, the Seattle Seahawks had to come from behind in the second half, relying on a 35 yard touchdown from Wilson to Jermaine Kearse in the 4th Quarter along with two turnovers forced by their 4th ranked defense.

While the Seahawks opened at 3 1/2 point favorites, their line moved in their favor early Sunday Morning to -4, where it would stay at almost every sportsbook around the world. The New England/Denver Broncos line was quite interesting however. The Broncos opened up as a full touchdown favorite. The public bet that line down to -4 1/2 hours before the AFC Championship Game began at 3pm EDT.

Broncos’ fans couldn’t be any happier. After taking Denver to the playoffs in his first year wearing a Broncos jersey, Peyton Manning has brought his team all the way to the big game, the 2014 Super Bowl, in year 2. Oddsmakers have already posted a spread on the big game, scheduled for February 2nd at 6:30pm EDT, at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. The line opened as a pick’em as soon as the 49ers/Seahawks game had concluded. But in a matter of hours, the spread has jumped to the Denver Broncos -2 at most books.

On the flip-side, Seahawks fans must be exstatic. Seattle hired Pete Carroll on January 11th, 2010, after proving himself once again in building a dominent program at USC. In his four year tenure, Seahawk fans have seen their home team improve steadily year in, and year out. They’ve been highly successful in the draft, and other off-season negotiating. And, when the fans are excited they’re one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. No wonder why the Seahawks have won 16 of their last 17 home games!

Super Bowl XLVIII should be an exciting one. Offense vs Defense. Who will win? What will the weather be like in New Jersey? Who’s going to outplay their opponent in the elements? Denver will be bringing the #1 ranked offense, averaging an amazing 36.44 PPG and 6.31 Yards/Play. Seattle will be bringing the #1 Scoring Defense in the NFL, allowing only 14.61 PPG and just 4.57 Yards/Play. They say “defense wins championships” if that theory is true, it will be completely proven in the 2014 Super Bowl.]

However it turns out, my personal opinion is that this years Super Bowl will be one helluva game. Finally the two best teams have finally reached the big stage, not just two teams that got hot at the right team. These are the two best teams in the NFL. And the whole world will be watching when they do battle in some natural winter elements.
